Start here if you're not sure what's wrong
Windows and doors fail in a handful of predictable ways, and the symptom usually tells you the part. If it catches or has dropped, that's the hinges. If the handle spins or the key turns without doing anything, that's the handle or the mechanism. If you can feel air round the edge, that's the seal. If the glass itself has gone cloudy, that's a failed sealed unit rather than a repair at all.
Why we repair rather than replace
A twenty-year-old window that is structurally sound will often go another decade on new hinges and a fresh gasket. Replacing it costs many times more and gains you very little. We would rather do the honest repair and have you ring us again than sell you a window you did not need.
When replacement genuinely is the answer
Sometimes it is. Rotten timber, cracked or distorted uPVC, or a frame that has moved with the building are all past repairing. If that is what we find we will say so — and because we are Certass registered we can fit and certify the replacement ourselves.
