A blown unit doesn’t mean a new window. In most cases the frame stays exactly where it is and only the glass is changed.
When the seal around a double glazed unit fails, moisture gets in between the panes and can’t get back out. You end up looking at fog instead of your garden, and the unit stops insulating properly — the gap that does the work is full of damp air.
The fix is to measure the failed unit, make up new glass to match and swap it into the existing frame. The frame, the hinges and the handles all stay put.

It licenses us to self-certify that replacement windows, doors, roof lights and roof windows meet Building Regulations — so there's no council building notice to arrange and no inspection to wait on. You're issued a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate for the work, which is the document a buyer's solicitor will ask for the day you come to sell.
