Doors that have dropped
uPVC and composite doors are heavy, and over years the weight pulls the slab slightly out of square. You'll feel it as dragging at the bottom corner, or having to lift the handle hard to throw the lock. Most modern doors have adjustable hinges with movement in three directions, so a drop can often be taken out without replacing anything.
When it's the mechanism
If adjustment doesn't fix it, the multipoint mechanism running down the edge of the door is usually worn. That's the strip with the hooks and rollers that engage when you lift the handle. It's a replaceable part and considerably cheaper than a door.
Draughts and seals
A door that once shut tight and now doesn't is either out of alignment or has a flattened seal. The gasket round the frame compresses over the years and stops recovering. Replacing it is straightforward and makes an immediate difference to a cold hallway.
Glass in the door
If the glass panel in the door is misted, cracked or you simply want something different, the panel comes out and a new one goes in without touching the door itself.

It's a warning. Forcing a mechanism that's fighting misalignment is how gearboxes break, and they usually break locked shut.
