Modern glass is not simply clear
Almost every sealed unit made in the last twenty years has a coating on one of its inner faces — a microscopically thin metallic layer that reflects heat back into the room. It is what makes double glazing work as well as it does, and it is invisible when you are looking straight through it. Look at a house from across the road at an angle, though, and you will see it: a faint tint, sometimes slightly bronze, sometimes slightly blue. Different manufacturers and different generations of coating give slightly different casts.
Which is why a mismatched replacement shows
Put an uncoated or differently coated unit into one opening in a run of four and from the street that window reads as the odd one out, particularly on a dull day or at an angle.
